A B.C. teenager has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a Burnaby man over the weekend.

Zsolt Csikos, 43, died Saturday night after he was stabbed in the Metrotown area of Burnaby. He was discovered lying on the ground outside a condominium building and rushed to hospital, where he died.

Witnesses say they saw a young man slashing Csikos in the neck with a small sword or medium-sized knife.

Nineteen-year-old Yacine Zouaoui was arrested shortly after the stabbing, and was formally charged with murder on Monday.

Homicide investigators uncovered evidence connected to the stabbing at Metropolis at Metrotown Mall.

Investigators say Csikos and Zouaoui knew each other, but are not revealing a motive for the murder. However, police have said that there appears to be no link to gangs, drugs or organized crime.

Zouaoui remains in custody until his next scheduled court hearing on Tuesday.
