CTV British Columbia's weathercaster Tamara Taggart might soon be showing off her on-air skills across North America, after the popular broadcaster was named a finalist in the search for a guest co-host on the Live with Regis and Kelly show.
Live, which tapes before a studio audience in New York City, announced 20 finalists on their show Monday morning. Tamara and CTV Toronto weathercaster Tom Brown were both named.
Taggart was at home with her two kids, Beckett and Zo, when her name and picture appeared on screen. She says co-hosting in New York would be "the opportunity of a lifetime."
"To co-host Regis and Kelly would probably be the highlight of my career -- I think I'd be good at it," Taggart said.
"I kind of feel like I know Regis," she joked. "We'd have fun."
Over the past few weeks, viewers from Canada and the United States have nominated their favourite local broadcasters to fill-in for either Regis Philbin or Kelly Ripa, with the top 10 men and top 10 women unveiled today.
Taggart joined CTV British Columbia in 1997, quickly becoming a viewer favourite as the co-host of the morning show. Come February, she will be doing the national weather forecast for the 2010 Winter Games in Whistler.
Some of Tamara's most memorable weather reports have included being thrown in the air by gold medal figure skater David Pelletier and chased by pigs at Vancouver's annual PNE.
The public can vote for Tamara until 7:00 p.m, PST Tuesday.
The winner of the "Co-host for a day" search will be announced Wednesday on Live, which airs on CTV B.C. at 9 a.m.
If selected, Taggart will appear during the week of August 17-21.
