Think the otters at the Vancouver Aquarium are the best thing since sliced bread, but can’t make the trek out to Stanley Park to go visit?

Well, that’s no longer a problem.

The Vancouver Aquarium threw open its digital doors this week with enhancements to its web cam program, meaning virtual guests can watch an otter at feeding time or admire a jellyfish – all from their smart phone or tablet.

There have been live web cams since 2001 but the new designs allow viewers to take a look inside four different habitats any time of the day, and even snap photos of the animals and share them through social media.

Cameras are set up in the habitats for beluga whales, sea otters, jellyfish and penguins.

“We can now provide our supporters with ways to continue their connection to our natural world, inspiring them to learn more about our aquatic ambassadors,” Aquarium Vice President Dolf DeJong said in a statement.

Plus, otters are just really cute, which is argument enough to spend some time watching them do their thing.
