A woman has died after a logging truck tipped over, causing a collision on a highway near Harrison Mills.

Few details have been made available, but police said the crash occurred shortly after noon on Monday on the Lougheed Highway near East Mill Road.

Mounties said it appears that a logging truck was driving along the highway when it tipped over onto a curb, sending logs rolling into the street.

One of the logs struck a pickup truck, and the female driver died at the scene. The driver of the logging truck was uninjured in the crash.

A nearby hydro pole was knocked over during the incident, and power had to be turned off to allow investigators to safely examine the scene.

The highway was closed in both directions between Mount Woodside and Mission. The lanes reopened at shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday.
