The two women who were killed in a boating accident on a river near in northeastern B.C. Sunday afternoon have been named.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed the identities of the victims as Prince George residents Christy Schwing, 31, and Carolyn Simpson, 43.

Schwing and Simpson were among four people on a jet boat that capsized on the Willow River about 40 kilometres northeast of Prince George at around 4:40 p.m. Sunday.

The boat had broken down before being swept into a driftwood logjam.

Two men managed to make it to safety and a search effort was launched to find the women.

One of the bodies was recovered on the evening of May 6 about 700 metres downstream from the site of where the boat crashed. The second body was found Monday morning near a logjam at the site of the incident.
