Two 25-year-old men allegedly raided a Red Robin Restaurant Thursday morning, stealing several bottles of booze before attempting to flee on public transit.

North Vancouver RCMP received a complaint of mischief at around 6:30 a.m. to the family restaurant located at 801 Marine Dr.

Officers found that a large rock had been hurled through the front window and numerous bottles of alcohol were missing inside.

An investigation indicated that the robbery had only occurred moments before, and a fresh smearing of blood was discovered on the restaurant's walls.

While officers were at the crime scene, a second disturbance complaint was called into police from a nearby TransLink bus.

The driver said two intoxicated men had boarded the bus and were openly swigging from their liquor bottles. Both had blood dripping from cuts on their bodies.

About half an hour after the break-in, police arrested the two men several blocks away from the restaurant and charged each for break and enter, theft and possession of stolen property.

Mounties said the Surrey men were known to police and will remain in custody until their next court appearance.
