The Vancouver College Fighting Irish strolled into Mercer Stadium Friday evening and marched out a few hours later having thoroughly beaten the New West Hyacks 43-0.

For the second straight week the Hyacks found themselves at the wrong end of a shutout, and for the fourth time this season the Hyacks gave up 40 or more points in a game.

Lineman Christian Covington was as advertised for the Irish defence collecting three sacks and his fair share of tackles.

It was really all about the defence for the Irish tonight, as the Hyacks turned the ball over five times in the game and they were hard pressed, after the opening drive, to move the ball against an ultra tough Irish front line.

The Irish face Earl Marriot next Saturday, while the Hyacks travel to the Apple Bowl to face Kelowna in a non-conference game.

Next Friday's High School Heroes game of the week will be an all out USA versus Canada battle as Abbotsford's W.J. Mouat welcomes Bonita Vista from San Diego, California.

Here are the other games on tap this Friday and Saturday around the BC High School Football Association.
