Police are investigating after a woman allegedly tried to lure a 12-year-old boy in an East Vancouver park over the weekend.

The boy was playing in Melbourne Park around 2 p.m. Sunday when a woman approached and tried to coax him out of the area, according to police.

She left after being confronted by another adult.

Police are now trying to figure out who she is, and have asked anyone who might have witnessed the incident to come forward and speak with them.

The suspect is described as a white woman, 5-7 tall, 125 lbs. with protruding front teeth and blond hair, which she had in a ponytail.

She was wearing a dark jacket, a white tank top with red writing, faded blue jeans, and a backpack with another jacket hanging off the side.

Police said she was seen boarding a SkyTrain and exited at Surrey Central Station around 2:30 p.m.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department at 604-717-0601, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
