Vancouver police have released the name of a teenage girl who was stabbed to death at a house party in the city early Friday morning.

Surrey resident Angela Qiu, 17, was found on the sidewalk near Knight Street and East 51st Avenue at around 1 a.m. suffering from multiple stab wounds.

She was rushed to hospital but died of her injuries shortly after. Another 16-year-old victim was taken to hospital, where she was treated and later released.

Const. Jana McGuinness said they were stabbed after a fight broke out with another girl at a party in a nearby basement suite. Police say about 40 drunken teens were found in the home.

The suspect fled the scene. No arrests have been made and investigators have not released a description or profile of the suspect.

It is believed that no adults were at the residence when the party was happening.

More details are expected later this week. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
