A father has made a heartfelt plea for his son, who is a suspect in a double shooting of two gas station employees, to turn himself in to police.

This comes after Surrey RCMP announced they were laying charges against 21-year-old Shane Gidon of Chilliwack. Gidon is accused of attempted murder after the violent robbery in Surrey in November.

Giddon is also charged with robbery using a firearm. Police believe he may be linked to five other armed robberies in Surrey last month.

One of the victims of those other robberies was Gurjit Binning.

"I gave him the money. I said just go away from here... It is so scary. I was really scared," he said.

The shooting victims are recovering slowly. A 70-year-old man remains in hospital, while a 19-year-old man has been released.

CTV spoke to Gidon's upset father, Vince Gidon, in a phone interview. He said he did not know where his son is, but he did call someone close to the family.

"I don't know what he's capable of doing. Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think that he would do something like this," he said.

"I love him dearly and I just want him to give me a call. If he's scared to go to the police... just give me a call and Ill go with him.... He can call me 24 hours a day and Ill be there for him."

According to court documents, Gidon has previous convictions, including possession of a controlled substance, break and enter, and robbery.

Surrey police have released a photo of Gidon, and anyone spotting him is asked to call 911.
