BURNABY - Etienne Barbara's goal on a penalty kick just before halftime helped the Carolina RailHawks earn a 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps in USSF Division 2 soccer action Wednesday.

Whitecaps defender Nelson Akwari pulled down Barbara just inside the Vancouver box, resulting in the penalty. Barbara stepped up and fired the ball past Carolina goalkeeper Jay Nolly for his fifth goal of the season.

The RailHawks (3-2-4) remained unbeaten on the road. They are 2-0-4 away from home.

Barbara's goal came after Ansu Toure had given the Whitecaps (4-2-4) a 1-0 lead.

Zurab Tsiskaridze crossed the ball low to Toure, who beat RailHawks goalkeeper Eric Reed.

It was the Whitecaps' last home game before embarking on a five-game road swing.
