Victoria Police have arrested a 35-year-old man on allegations of Internet child luring.

The investigation began in April, when the Vancouver Police Department allege the man befriended a 14-year-old girl in a chat room and was making plans with her to meet for sex.

Police say the suspect was grooming the teenager by introducing sexual topics, but the girl was actually an undercover officer posing as a teenager.

When the suspect went to meet the girl last week, he was instead met by officers from the Victoria Police Department's special victims unit.

Police executed a search warrant on the man's home and seized several computers and 15 hard drives.

He was released from jail on a promise to appear in court again in August and will likely face charges relating to luring a child and possession and distribution of child pornography.
