A man is fighting for his life in hospital after he and two other bystanders were stabbed while trying to break up a fight in Whistler village early Monday morning.

Sgt. Paul Hayes of the Whistler RCMP confirmed the man was taken to a local hospital before being transported to a hospital equipped with critical care facilities. He could not say in which hospital the men were recovering.

Hayes told CTV News RCMP received several calls of a fight in the village and arrived to find three men with stab wounds.

Mounties say the three victims were all Good Samaritans trying to break up the fight.

Three men in their early 20s were arrested in Whistler shortly after 2:30 a.m., and the RCMP confirmed in a release all three live in the Lower Mainland and are known to local police.

Hayes could not elaborate on how the three suspects were previously known, but confirmed they are in custody.

Anyone with information or video of the fight should contact Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
