Police are investigating what they believe to be a drug-related shooting at an Abbotsford residence Monday night.

At about 11:30 p.m., officers were called to a home on the 34000-block of Harris Road, where they discovered a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his foot.

Const. Ian MacDonald says the victim, who is known to police, has not been cooperating with investigators -- leaving open the possibility that the wound was self-inflicted.

"I'm not suggesting by any stretch that he shot himself, but if he's not telling us what happened we have to consider all possibilties," MacDonald said.

"We know he took a round to the foot. The rest of it we're trying to determine."

The victim is currently recovering in hospital. He is believed to have been shot at a residence in the area where he was discovered. Inside the home, officers discovered a marijuana grow-op.

"We'll get some more clarification about whether the house was broken into, or whether it was a grow-rip or a drug debt or some other activity," Sgt. Daffydd Hermann said at the scene.

The Abbotsford Police major crimes unit, forensic identification unit and drug squad are all taking part in the investigation.

No suspects have been arrested.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-864-4814.
