A mudslide has closed Highway 1 in both directions 20 kilometres east of the Rogers Pass Summit.

Revelstoke RCMP and highway crews responded to the mudslide at Heather Hill Tuesday morning.

The highway remains closed in both directions and is tentatively expected to re-open at 5 p.m.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said in a release that no one was injured by the slide.

"The slide was witnessed by a motorist, who watched as the slide came down across the highway, reporting that no vehicles were observed in the path of the slide," he said.
