Man stabbed outside Gallery nightclub in South Vancouver
Authorities are investigating another violent incident outside the Gallery nightclub in South Vancouver.
Witnesses told police a fight erupted outside the club early Thursday morning, and that one man was stabbed.
The victim "took himself to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries," the Vancouver Police Department said in a news release.
No suspects have been arrested. Authorities asked anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
Contacted for comment, the general manager of Gallery called the stabbing “senseless,” and said the club has been working to address any safety concerns with law enforcement.
“Yes, there have been some incidents exterior of our venue after closing, and in response we have tightened up security and safety measures hand-in-hand with the VPD and the Liquor Board,” Dave Brown said in a statement.
“We feel it important to remember that Gallery has hosted 65 capacity-level performances from some of the top hip-hop artists in North America, such as 50 Cent, with zero issues.”
The club, which is located along Southwest Marine Drive, under the Arthur Laing Bridge, had a limited launch during the COVID-19 pandemic then fully opened in February 2022, billing itself as the city's "premier nightlife experience.”
There have been a handful of highly publicized incidents since, including last fall when officers were called to Gallery twice in one week – first for a shooting that put one man in hospital, then for a stabbing that left another man with a minor wound on his head.
Naseb Fazil, 18, was killed in a stabbing outside the club in May 2022.
