The body of a missing Salmon Arm, B.C. man has been discovered inside of his SUV in Kamloops -- more than 100 kilometres from where he disappeared.

Shane Slusarchuk, 49, was last seen by his friends Dec. 16 when he left a friend's home in Blind Bay to go to a corner store. He was driving his late model Toyota Highlander.

Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Scott Wilson says Slusarchuk's body was discovered Wednesday morning by a bylaw officer checking the snowy vehicle outside of a condo development in the 900-block of Lorne St.

"Bylaw had ticketed it for a few days in order to get the road ploughed," Wilson said. "The vehicle was covered in snow so you couldn't see inside."

Wilson says the truck had several tickets on it, and estimates the vehicle had been parked for many days.

Police are now interviewing residents of a nearby condo complex in order to determine how long the vehicle had been parked.

"Some people say the car may have been parked there since before Christmas," said Wilson.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the cause of death. At this time, foul play is not suspected.
