A man has been charged with second degree murder after the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Dylan Cody Smith in Vancouver on Friday.
Police arrested Clyde Whitfield, 46, at an apartment complex located in the 5000-block of Main Street following receiving a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. about a stabbing inside the suite, Const. Jana McGuinness told reporters in a statement.
Smith's body was found inside the apartment where a fight had escalated into violence.
Investigators say the victim and the accused were two of several individuals living in the suite.
Police are reporting Smith's death as Vancouver's 15th homicide of 2011 and say they had been in contact with Whitfield in the past.
