A 28-year-old man is dead after being found shot at a house party in Surrey, B.C., on Saturday morning.

RCMP officers arrived at the residence located near the intersection of 132nd Street and 67A Avenue at about 4 a.m. after receiving a 911 call, Insp. Steve Wade of the Surrey RCMP told CTV News at the scene.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has since taken over the investigation and will not be releasing the victim's identity at this time.

"The victim does not have a criminal record and the next of kin have yet to be notified," Sgt. Jennifer Pound said in statement.

"There have been no arrests and police are canvassing the area and speaking with potential witnesses who may shed some light onto the events leading up to the victim's death," she added.

Police did not immediately find weapons in the house and are not confirming what killed the man.

"Although it appears the male died due to a gunshot wound, the cause of death will ultimately be determined and confirmed through an autopsy," Pound said.
