Police are asking the public for information on a 53-year-old man whose body was discovered in a Metro Vancouver scrap yard this week.

Maple Ridge resident Bradley Allan Nielsen was found dead Tuesday morning in a large scrap yard along the Lougheed Highway, with injuries police believe are consistent with foul play.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called to lead the probe into Nielsen's murder, and on Wednesday asked anyone who knew him to come forward.

"We need to identify Mr. Nielsen's associates to establish more background knowledge," Cpl. Meghan Foster said in a statement.

Few details have been confirmed, but IHIT said the evidence gathered so far suggests the murder was targeted.

Nielsen was last seen the evening of Oct. 31, one day before his body was discovered. Members of IHIT, Ridge Meadows RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service are continuing to gather evidence, including at the scrap yard, which has forced the closure of one lane of the Lougheed Highway.

Police said because of the size of the yard, they could not say how long it would take investigators to finish processing the scene.

Anyone who is familiar with Nielsen or has information on the murder is asked to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
