CTV Vancouver was honoured with one of the most prestigious awards in journalism on Wednesday night, taking home the 2015 Jack Webster Award for the Best Television Reporting in B.C.

The Jack Webster Foundation recognized CTV Vancouver for our coverage of a tragic story, the murder of 17-year-old Serena Vermeersch.

Vermeersch was killed walking home from school in Surrey back in September 2014. Our stories revealed the man charged with her murder, Raymond Caissie, has a history of violent crime, but had been released from prison without any warning to the public and without proper supervision.

CTV’s coverage resulted in new monitoring rules for dangerous criminals in B.C.

The Webster award was presented to our colleagues Michele Brunoro, Scott Roberts and Jon Woodward.
