Surrey resident Adrian Skara pleaded guilty to manslaughter this week for the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man in 2010.

Skara, 32, was sentenced on Monday to 10 years in jail, not including time already served, for the March 28, 2010 death of Buta Singh Sangha.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Skara's sentence is the result of investigators' determination to bring justice.

"If you feel it is your right to take a life and change a family forever, be prepared to pay the price," Pound said in a release.

The slaying happened after an alley fight broke at around 4:20 a.m. between several people in the Cloverdale area.

Mounties and paramedics arrived on scene arresting those involved and Sangha, who had been stabbed and was severely wounded, was rushed to hospital. He died a few hours later.
