Surrey RCMP are investigating a second homicide in the city in less than 12 hours after a man was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning.

Police say he was stabbed at around 4 a.m. near the intersection of 192nd Street and 70th Avenue after a fight broke out in the alley behind a house party.

He died shortly after being taken to hospital. His age and identity have not been released.

Insp. Dave Attfield told CTV News that investigators had taken "several people" into custody, and that there were many witnesses to the fight.

Police received several noise complaints in the neighbourhood before the stabbing, Attfield said.

Investigators contained the area for a number of hours on Sunday and canvassed neighbours for further statements.

"We would very much appreciate it if anyone in the community can help," Attfield said.
