Two Transit Police officers have been convicted of assaulting a 27-year-old man at the Granville SkyTrain Station three years ago.

Bruce Shipley and Alfred Wong used significant force against the victim, Jordan Dyck, even though he didn’t pose a threat to them, a judge said Friday while handing down a guilty verdict.

The officers had been dispatched to check on Dyck’s wellbeing.

Speaking outside the courtroom, the victim said he’s happy with outcome of the trial but feels the process dragged on too long.

“I just don’t like how it took so long for it to happen,” Dyck said. “When I screw up, I can’t be found guilty fast enough, you know what I mean?”

Shipley and Wong also faced charges relating to their reports on the incident. Both were found not guilty of fabricating evidence.

Part of the Feb. 9, 2012 incident was recorded on a bystander’s camera, showing Shipley and Wong struggling to get Dyck on the ground for more than a minute.

Both officers have been on administrative duty since 2013.

They're scheduled to appear in court next on June 8.

Correction: A previous version of this story indicated Shipley and Wong have been on paid leave since 2013. They have been on administrative duty.
