A 42-year-old man has been charged in connection with a disturbing attack on a Surrey senior in her own home last month.

Stephen Thomas Morse, a resident of Langley, has been charged with six counts in connection to this case, including aggravated sexual assault, forcible confinement, and disguise with intent.

Mounties said Morse was not previously known to police, and that no more information is being released as the investigation is ongoing.

The 70-year-old victim was attacked on Aug. 12 by an armed man who burst into her home, restrained her and requested cash and valuables.

She was beaten and sexually assaulted before her assailant fled.

Police said the victim suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP detachment at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous.
