Police in Richmond say an elderly man has died after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning.
The collision happened on Blundell Road near St. Albans Road just after 7 a.m. According to police, the senior was pronounced dead after several failed attempts to revive him.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the man remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The Richmond Roadside Safety Unit and the Integrated Collision, Analyst, Reconstructionist Services (ICARS) shut down a stretch of Blundell Road as they investigate.
The tragic incident has Richmond RCMP reminding drivers to use extra caution in darker driving conditions. Police are also urging pedestrians to wear bright clothing and to take extra time to make sure they can safely cross the street.
