Police have busted an alleged credit card manufacturing ring in Richmond that had possible links to organized crime.

In March, Mounties searched a Richmond condo and found two credit card embossing machines, a card printer, card skimming devices and forged credit cards.

They also uncovered several computers with hard drives containing personal identification and more than 20,000 credit card account numbers.

“Police believe that forged credit cards from this factory have been used throughout Canada and even across the border into Washington State,” said Cpl. Stephanie Ashton of the Richmond RCMP in a release.

According to police, the suspect entered Canada on a student visa but overstayed its expiry by 10 years. Immigration officials are also working with police to establish if any further charges will stem from the expired visa.

Police are recommending numerous credit card fraud charges against Alex Chih Sheng Chen.

Chen is expected to appear in court later today.
