VANCOUVER -- A B.C. man who admitted running down two dirt bikers who'd sprayed his van with rocks has been told he can't take back his guilty plea.

Sterling Wiebe pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing bodily harm after the crash on a gravel road near Enderby, B.C., in July of 2007.

Two young men on dirt bikes had driven past Wiebe's van on the road before turning around to head back, and when they tried to pass the van, Wiebe pulled into their path.

Both dirt bikers were struck, and one suffered serious injuries, including broken bones and permanent nerve damage after he was sent flying over the van's hood into a ditch.

Wiebe told police he pulled in front of the riders to get them to stop or slow down after they sprayed rocks on his vehicle on their first past, but he later pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 18 months and fined 600 dollars.

He filed an appeal seeking to reverse his guilty plea, but the B.C. Court of Appeal has rejected his request, ruling there was no sign his plea was uncertain or involuntary and there was more than enough evidence to prove the charge of dangerous driving.
