A worker is recovering from a broken leg and minor head injury after stumbling from a crane platform at the Port of Vancouver Friday night.

Members of Vancouver's Fire Technical Rescue Team responded to the call around midnight. The employee with Dubai World slipped and fell as he was getting out of the cab of a crane.

He fell approximately four metres down a ladder and landed on a platform.

According to Batt. Chief Terry Nikolai, the man broke his leg.

Crews responded quickly and lowered the injured man from the crane using a spine board.

"The whole thing took about twenty minutes," Chief Nikolai said. "He was about 60 to 70 feet up on the crane."

The unidentified man was transported to hospital with a broken leg and a minor head injury.
