RCMP are investigating after a 19-year-old was assaulted just blocks away from a Richmond high school on Friday night.
Police were called to the intersection of Francis and Number Four Roads at around 6:15 p.m. after receiving a report that a young man was lying on the sidewalk.
"Our members attended and found a male in need of medical assistance," Wendell said. "We're currently investigating what we're describing as a serious assault."
The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics. His condition has not been released.
The assault occurred down the road from Matthew McNair Secondary School.
Richmond RCMP are asking anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area on Friday night to contact them at 604-278-1212.
