A 48-year-old Vancouver man armed with a machete was shot and killed by police in the 300-block of Powell Street near Dunlevy Avenue on Friday night.
Vancouver police said in a release that around 8:30 p.m. officers encountered a man walking on the sidewalk armed with the weapon. Officers approached and confronted the man and shot at him a short time after. He died at the scene.
The RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating the fatal shooting.
