The owner of a Vancouver used car dealership is offering a reward after koi fish were stolen from his pond.

Surveillance video captured the theft from Lucky 8 Auto on Kingsway. Owner Tony Guo said more than fifty fish were taken on the night of July 17.

“When I came to work I saw five, six dead fish on the ground right in front of me,” he said.

Guo said he thought an animal had gone after the fish until he checked his surveillance camera. Video footage shows a man and woman using a net to scoop the koi into a bucket.

“They spend a lot of time to take out almost all of my fish,” he said.

Guo said he estimates the stolen fish are worth about $30,000 and he is offering a reward for their return.

“My biggest, a gold one, was about three feet long,” he said. The others range in length from two to three feet. Guo has had the fish for about six years and built the pond that they called home.

He said customers have come to the dealership in the past and offered him $8000 for fish.

Guo reported the incident to the Vancouver police.
