A Kelowna, B.C. dentist is fighting tooth and nail to find a woman he met only briefly in Ireland a year ago.

Dr. Sandy Crocker chatted with a woman for two minutes in a café in the tiny Irish town of Ennistymon, County Clare, according to the Clare People Newspaper.

The hopeless romantic (or creepy stalker, depending on who you ask) was so lovestruck by the mystery woman he has flown 8,000 kilometres back to Ireland more than a year later to spend a month searching for her.

Crocker is currently in northwest Ireland and told CTV News he is trying to maximize his time out in the community looking for the woman.

The search, although admirable, may prove hard for the lovesick dentist, since he describes the woman as red-haired, freckled and in her 20s.

According to Wikipedia, around 220,000 women living in Ireland have red hair and freckles.

Crocker told the Clare People he only met the mystery woman for a couple minutes, but thinks he may be in love.

“Maybe it’s a shot in dark but if it is meant to be, if it’s fate, then I might bump into her walking down the street or in a shop somewhere. Who knows what might happen,” he said.

Crocker, who is originally from P.E.I., graduated from Dalhousie University in 2005. He currently works at Creekside Dental Clinic in Kelowna, where his online bio says he plays for the Kelowna Crows rugby team.

“In his off time Sandy enjoys exploring the lakes, mountains and valleys of the beautiful Okanagan as well as playing for Kelowna’s Senior Men’s Rugby team, the Kelowna Crows,” the bio says.

A spokeswoman for the clinic said they have received several calls about Crocker, and declined to comment.

The story has gained media attention around the world.
