Abbotsford police are warning the public about a convicted, high-risk sex offender who has recently moved to the area.

James William Conway, 40, has a criminal history that includes multiple convictions for sexual assault, sexual interference, arson, mischief and failure to comply with court order and breach of recognizance.

Conway has a long list of court-ordered conditions, which includes 24-hour electronic monitoring. He is also not permitted to have any contact with children under 18 - including online communication - and is not allowed to wear police, fire or other uniforms.

Police are asking Abbotsford residents to contact officers immediately if Conway is seen violating any of his conditions. He is not allowed to leave home without a supervising officer.

"If anybody sees this individual out and about on his own, that would be a breach of his court conditions and they should contact their local police immediately,” says Const. Ian MacDonald. “He's also under a number of conditions that would restrict him from coming into contact with anyone under the age of 18."

Conway was last convicted for breaching his conditions in February, when he was taken back into custody nine days after being released from prison after allegedly sitting next to a 14-year-old girl on a Surrey bus.

In April 2014, Transit Police arrested him for violating court orders after he allegedly looked down young girls’ shirts on the SkyTrain, and used a teddy bear to try and talk to them.
