The Earth's shadow moved slowly across the moon Saturday morning, treating onlookers in Western Canada to the uncommon celestial phenomenon of a total lunar eclipse.
Beginning at 6:06 a.m. Pacific Time, the light of the moon was completely blocked for 51 minutes.
The next total lunar eclipse won't be seen in North America until April 15, 2014.
