Technically speaking, it’s not summer yet. But you wouldn’t know it from looking at the line-up outside Rain or Shine Ice Cream Sunday morning.

There were as many as 20 people outside the month-old ice cream shop on Cambie Street shortly after 11 a.m. The shop doesn’t open for business until noon.

“That doesn’t happen,” said Vanessa Stern, who was scooping the frozen treats. “People were really eager today. It’s been non-stop.”

Businesses around Vancouver told CTV News this weekend’s unseasonably warm weather -- several records have been set across the province -- has been unseasonably good for business as well.

Spokes Bike Rentals on West Georgia Street near Stanley Park also had a lineup Sunday morning. The rush there began earlier -- at 7 a.m.

“A lot of people go out in the morning,” said Sarah Vetter. “It usually gets really hot around one, two, three o'clock, so by then people are usually at a park or pool, somewhere they can cool off.”

And tourism wasn’t the only industry benefitting from the beautiful weather. Heather McCormack of Gandy’s Home Hardware on West 4th told CTV News the weekend was the store’s best of the year for sales of patio furniture and fans.

The good news for all of these businesses? Warm, dry weather is in the forecast for the next week. It may not be quite as warm as the weekend has been, but it’s definitely going to continue to feel like summer in Vancouver.
