Friends and relatives are paying Facebook tributes to a 25-year-old Metro Vancouver man, who was found dead last week inside a burned-out vehicle in Burnaby, B.C.

The victim, identified by police as John William Hanna of the Lower Mainland, was described in one Facebook note as "an amazing friend, who was loved by all."

"We're all still in shock over the loss of an incredibly kind, generous and loving person,'' the writer said.

Hanna's body was found in a burned-out car in the 5600-block of Clinton Ave. in Burnaby on July 16. Police said he was the victim of a targeted hit.

At the time, police said the body was so badly burned that it was unrecognizable.

However, investigators were able to identify the victim as a result of public assistance and associated dental records.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is working closely with Hanna's family, who are requesting privacy at this time, according to an RCMP statement.

A funeral and memorial service will be held on Saturday in Surrey, according to a note posted on Facebook.

Anyone with information with regards to this homicide is asked to call the IHIT tip line at 1 800 551 4448 (IHIT).
