Mounties are investigating another attempted sex assault on the University of British Columbia campus.
The young female victim was confronted in the lobby of Totem Park Residence early Wednesday morning, grabbed by her neck and dragged outside to a poorly-lit area.
She managed to break free and a suspect was nabbed by campus security shortly after.
The man's name hasn’t been released but the RCMP confirmed he’s a 27-year-old student at the university.
Cpl. Brenda Winpenny told CTV News the suspect appeared in court Wednesday and has been charged with attempted sexual assault and assault of a police officer.
Few details of the attack have been released, but investigators don’t believe it's linked to a sex assault committed on campus in February, or to a string of unsolved sex assaults from 2013.
