A wind and rain storm pummeling the B.C. coast for the second straight day has knocked out more power, brought down trees and disrupted travel.

Heavy rains have been accompanied by winds gusting up to 100 kilometres an hour in some areas of the north and central coasts.

BC Hydro crews were trying to clean up from widespread power outages on Sunday when the second wave of the storm hit.

About 30,000 Hydro customers were without power by noon Monday, with most of the outages on Vancouver Island and the Metro Vancouver regions.

The high winds forced BC Ferries to cancel several sailings, including departures from Tsawwassen, south of Vancouver, to Swartz Bay near Victoria.

The wind also blew down trees, which blocked roads in several areas and crashed through the roof of a West Vancouver home.

Four cruise ship passengers were injured at the harbour in Victoria, after a gust of wind moved a gangway across the pavement. Three of the passengers were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

On the west coast of Vancouver Island, Parks Canada issued a public warning to the public, advising that swells could reach as high as seven-and-a-half metres over the next two days.
