One skier is in hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries after he and another man were caught in an avalanche that they apparently caused.
The men were allegedly skiing out of bounds near the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort west of Golden, B.C.
Golden and District Search and Rescue was called in to rescue the men shortly after noon on Sunday.
After the incident, Golden RCMP are asking those who plan to go into the backcountry to be aware of avalanche and weather conditions before doing so.
Avalanche conditions for the Golden area and much of the rest of the Province are currently at “high to considerable risk” according to the Canadian Avalanche Association website.
