ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Defenceman Keith Seabrook scored a pair of first-period goals Thursday and the Abbotsford Heat won their American Hockey League playoff opener, 3-2 over the Rochester Americans.

Shawn Weller also scored for the Heat, who took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven North Division semifinal.

Jordan Henry and Mike York replied for Rochester.

David Shantz made 30 saves for Abbotsford.

Rochester starting goalie Alexander Salak allowed three goals on nine shots in the first period. Tyler Plante replaced Salak at the start of the second and stopped all 20 shots he faced.

The chippy game saw 21 minor penalties dished out. Abbotsford was 2 for 11 on the power play while Rochester was 2 for 8.
