CLEVELAND - Steffan Kronwall scored the shootout winner as the Abbotsford Heat rallied to beat the Lake Erie Monsters 4-3 in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Down 3-1 in the final minutes of regulation, Heat forward David Van der Gulik scored at 17:50 and Cam Cunning added one more 27 seconds later to send it to extra time.

A scoreless overtime led to the shootout. Abbotsford's Colin Stuart scored, but Monsters defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk replied on the next shot.

Lake Erie goaltender John Grahame stopped the next two shooters before Kronwall scored the winner.

The Monsters (34-37-9) got off to a 2-0 lead in the first period behind goals from Josh Aspenlind and Mark Olver.

Abbotsford (38-29-12) got on the board at 12:21 in the second when Mitch Wahl scored, but Lake Erie made it 3-1 when Brian Fahey scored 6:38 into the third.

Heat goalie David Shantz made 26 saves for the win, while at the other end Grahame stopped 34.
