A 37-year-old stabbing victim is fighting for his life after police found him without a pulse early Sunday morning.
Insp. Dean Robinson said officers found the man lying unconscious in the intersection at Main and Hastings streets at around 1:30 a.m., and immediately performed CPR on him.
They were able to resuscitate him just before ambulance paramedics arrived. He was then rushed to hospital for emergency surgery, where he remains in critical condition.
A 22-year-old New Westminster man was arrested in the 600-block of Quebec Street shortly after. He is facing undisclosed charges.
Detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Major Crime Section were called in to conduct the investigation.
The motive has not been determined, but Robinson said there were several witnesses who will be speaking to police.
