B.C.'s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is asking for the public's help investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified woman whose body was found in Surrey Wednesday morning.

The body was found by a passerby in some bushes in the 13600-block of 104A Avenue in the Whalley area around 7 a.m.

Police say the only information about her identity is that she is an adult woman believed to be Caucasian. The death has been deemed suspicious.

"Our urgency is to get the woman identified for two reasons. Firstly, we want to be able to speak to the next of kin to advise them of the tragedy and secondly we want to start to identify who we need to speak to about the death," IHIT Cpl. Dale Carr said in a press release.

IHIT investigators and members of the Surrey RCMP serious crime team planned to spend the balance of Wednesday in the area conducting interviews and trying to identify the victim.

An autopsy will be held as early as Thursday.

Police are asking that anyone who believes they saw anything out of the ordinary in the area Tuesday night or Wednesday morning is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
