Coquitlam RCMP are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a dump truck while walking his dog Thursday morning.

Mounties say the pedestrian, believed to be in his mid to late 40s, was hit at a marked crosswalk at Hummingbird Drive and East Road shortly before 9:30 a.m.

He died at the scene. The dog was not injured.

Investigators are still working to determine the deceased’s name, as he was not carrying any identification.

The dump truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP detachment at 604-945-1550.
