Mounties in Coquitlam, B.C., are investigating after several people were stabbed in a parking lot brawl early Saturday morning.

Cpl. Bert Paquet told ctvbc.ca the fight occurred shortly after 1 a.m. near the intersection of North Road and Lougheed Highway when two groups clashed outside Plus Karaoke.

"One of the participants produced a knife and started stabbing people from the other group," Paquet said. "At this point in time we haven't confirmed an exact number of casualties, but so far none of them have life-threatening injuries."

Two people were found at the scene suffering minor stab wounds. They were transported to Royal Columbian Hospital for treatment along with a third victim who had been hit by a car during the fight.

Investigators are trying to determine whether another two stab victims, who drove themselves to hospital the same morning, were injured in the same brawl.

There were 20 people at the lot when officers arrived, though police believe several had already fled. Two were arrested and remain in custody.

No charges have been laid, Paquet said, because police are "still connecting the dots on quite a complex case." Anyone with information on the fight is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
