A female Mountie who crashed her car while off duty in January has now been charged with drunk driving.

Const. Tina Roxanne Kerton faces charges of impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 in connection to the Jan. 15 single-vehicle crash.

The seven-year member of the RCMP, currently posted with the anti-gang Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, was not injured in the crash on Highway 1 in Surrey near the 160th Street overpass.

Kerton has been placed on desk duty while the court process is underway. An internal code of conduct investigation is also being performed.

The officer is scheduled to make her next appearance in Surrey provincial court on April 30.
