A Surrey RCMP officer currently awaiting trial for two counts of assault stemming from an on-duty incident in May 2009 has now been charged in connection with another incident.

A female complainant alleges she was assaulted by Const. Imran Saeed during a traffic violation stop in February 2009.

The senior officer at the Surrey detachment ordered a statutory and code of conduct investigation after the incident. Investigation findings were forwarded by the Crown and the charge was approved in court Wednesday.

The 30-year-old is currently facing two other counts of assault from an undisclosed on-duty incident that happened sometime in May 2009.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Annie Linteau said court proceedings for the incident are ongoing. A trial is scheduled for June 21 to 24.

Saeed was taken off patrol duties and placed on administrative leave in fall 2009. Cpl. Annie Linteau said he will remain on leave pending the outcome of the criminal process and internal investigations.

Saeed is expected to appear in Surrey Provincial Court July 15 on the latest assault charge.
