Little Mountain celebrated a B.C. Little League Championship title Sunday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over the defending champions, Hastings.

Little Mountain was the team to beat at the tournament hosted by New Westminster at Justin Morneau Field.

The team went undefeated 6-0 during round robin play before beating Layritz in the semi-final to move on to Sunday's big game.

Little Mountain was led by strong pitching from Lucas Soper. The 12-year-old threw 87 pitches and only allowed three hits.

He also allowed three walks, facing 22 Hastings batters.

Matthew Reyes knocked a ball out of the park in the first inning for a two-run homer. His name is a familiar one. His sister, Katie, played with Hastings last year at the Little League World Series.

Little Mountain bats were pumping balls into the park during the game. Lachlan Hunter hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning, while Kristofer DeGuzman went three for three at bat.

DeGuzman hit two singles and a triple during the championship match.

Lichel Hirakawa-Kao also had a strong showing at bat connecting for three singles.

Little Mountain now moves on to the Canadian Little League Championship in Ancaster, Ontario with the chance at winning a spot in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania
