The BC Lions said goodbye to their longest serving player Wednesday as the football club released fullback Lyle Green.

Green leaves the Lions ranked 14th all-time on the games played list at 161 and the most by a Leos running back in club history.

"Lyle was a versatile player who never gave less than his best," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono."He was a pleasure to coach and we thank him for his contributions on the field as well as his many community and charitable efforts."

The Lions also announced receiver Matt Chapdelaine will practice with the team throughout the 2010 season while playing junior football with the Surrey Big Kahuna Rams of the BC Football Conference.

The team also released halfback Darren Toney on Wednesday.
